Skiing Club Fields - Sample Itinerary
Our tours differ from others in that they are tailored exactly to what you want from your holiday - everything in the itinerary is flexible! We specifically keep group numbers small so that we can give you the attention you deserve and create a truly wonderful holiday. Why not get a group of friends together and have a holiday designed just for you? Or if there are just a couple of you, you can join other thrill seekers for an adventure and a few new faces to chat about the days skiing over a cup of traditional hot wine!

Club field skiing is a completely different experience to the larger resorts – the friendly, relaxed atmosphere, low skier numbers – meaning no lift queues! – and stunning views of the highlands make for a unique ski experience. Our South Island ski field tours are designed for those who would like to encounter this true kiwi ski experience – staying in alpine lodges and on the mountain, ready to hit the slopes for fresh tracks in the morning. Although we recommend that you are at least an intermediate skier to get the most out of the tours, the fields have been chosen specifically as they offer something for every standard of skier!

On day 1 we will pick you up from Christchurch (either the airport or your own accommodation). For the next 14 days you will stay with our professionally qualified Sunshine coach, who will be your personal ski buddy and will arrange any additional activities that you would like!

Day 1:
From Christchurch we will drive to your Lodge accommodation (see accommodation information below…). Get settled in and have a delicious home cooked dinner with the other guests and your Sunshine World Guide, and discuss the fortnight to come over a few drinks!

Day 2:
Get up early for breakfast in the Lodge then head out to hit the slopes of Mt Cheeseman (see mountain facts below…) where you will ski for the day. Return to the Lodge for the evening to compare ski stories of the day over a home cooked dinner.

On your free days accommodation and meals at your lodge are included, though of course you are free to try out some of the local cuisine. You could explore the surrounding area and take advantage of the many activities on offer, take a trip to shop and sight see in Christchurch city, or use them to explore the amazing Franz Josef glacier. If you’re still full of energy, take an extra day or two skiing at one of the mountains included on your pass (see below), or why not revisit your favourite field?!

For a stunning experience visit the Mountain of Aoraki (Mount Cook) - the highest peak in the southern hemisphere – stay overnight where you can watch the peaks turn red in the sunset from a panoramic restaurant, then head out in the morning to walk the Hooker Valley trail leading to breathtaking views of the mountain and icebergs on the lake.

On the final days if you’re feeling a bit sore after all that skiing why not visit the relaxing natural spa at Hanmer Springs, then explore Pukaiki National Park and see the Pancake rocks. Or for a simply amazing end to your tour, visit Kaikora where you can watch whales in their natural habitat from a boat, plane or helicopter, swim with dolphins, snorkel with seals and see the local Albatross!
